Atlanta, Going to the Source

SoureCon, Global Sourcing Conference, Atlanta, GAAtlanta will be hosting the first Global Sourcing Conference to be held on September, 11 – 13th, 2007. SourceCon 2007 is promising a lot and why not? The transformation in recent years of research and sourcing as a scruffy recruiting sub-set to a fully-fledged professional practice in of itself suggests that a conference of this sort can only take the emerging sourcing profession one step closer to self-actualization, affirming its real community.

For me, one the most interesting things is – like the Recruiting Roadshow – SourceCon brings “physical community to social networks.” Could this be a trend emerging? If so, we are on an exciting road, coming a long way from the business networking of Ryze and other early transliterations of community and networking from virtual to corporeal.

Shally Steckerl – an Atlanta-based sourcing blogebrity and peripatetic speaker, trainer and all-round road warrior – has a great post up on RecruitingBloogers.com aptly titled Here’s why I think you should attend SourceCon in Atlanta on September 11-13.

Jim Stroud — another Atlanta-based “searchologist” and self-confessed nice guy – adds to the hype surrounding the well-marketed event with a video Who is Behind SourceCon? featured on his world famous Recruiters Lounge.

Check SourceCon out and make plans to attend if you can. Some of those who are involved in making SourceCon happen will also be contributing to the Atlnata Roadshow later in the month – more on that later.
